Chief Executive Officer
Angus (Gus) Kennard was appointed Kennards Hire Chief Executive Officer on 24 October 2016. He began his career with the business in 1996, and has been a key member of the Kennards Hire board and leadership team for the past 13 years.
Building on the foundations of his father Andy, he is proud to be the third-generation leader at the helm, now leading the company his grandfather Walter established in Bathurst, NSW in 1948. Today, the business has over 180 branches and more than 1,700 employees in Australia and New Zealand.
In 2004, Gus founded Concrete Care, a specialist business unit that sits under the Kennards Hire umbrella with eight branches in Australia and New Zealand.
With a strong focus on bringing Internet of Things (IoT) technology to the forefront of the business, Gus has been leading the company’s digital transformation strategy. Amongst other initiatives, he’s been instrumental in delivering the installation of the business’s proprietary telemetry platform, EasyTRAK, bringing to life real time tracking and fleet utilisation to their equipment range.
Gus holds an MBA from Sydney University and a Bachelor of Business degree. He is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He was a finalist in the 2011 EY Entrepreneur of the Year award for NSW and the overall 2019 EY Sustained Excellence Winner. Gus lives in Sydney with his wife and four children.
In his spare time, he is a keen rally enthusiast having competed in many iconic rally race events including Targa Tasmania (in which he recently came 1st in the GT4 class and 2nd overall), the Great Tarmac Rally 2019 (outright 1st) and the Snowy River Sprint.
