As much as we all love a good superhero movie from time to time, even superman can't be everywhere at once, which is why good traffic control is so important.
This is evidenced by recent events in South Australia when one of the Kennards Hire attenuators saved lives on a road worksite.
The purpose of a truck attenuator is to act as a stationary warning signal to oncoming traffic that a worksite lies ahead, and motorists should therefore slow down and be prepared to stop, as well as taking extra precautions to keep an eye out for workers.
While laying an audio tactile line on a highway, an attenuator sat several hundred metres back from workers and managed to intercept an oncoming 4WD at 100km/hour.
Fortunately no one was hurt in the incident, and the event simply highlighted the need for precautions while working on roads and motorways.
Kennards was able to fix the minor damage to the attenuator and have it back on site within days where work could resume without a major delay to the schedule.
