How long is your gardening to-do list? If you don't even have one, you're probably dreaming, particularly after the winter we've just had! Take a quick look outside, and you'll probably notice a number of things that you can work on over the weekends.

From pulling up dead shrubs and trimming the hedges to spraying the weeds and digging holes for new fence posts, Kennards Hire has the equipment you need to get the job done right.

Cleaning up after the stormy season

Before you get to any of the big stuff, you'll need to clean up the garden so that you can see exactly what needs doing. A basic wheelbarrow will do the trick for leaves and branches that might have fallen down - just load everything into the tray and make a few trips to your green bin. Simple!

Once you've got the debris out of the way, you'll be able to see how much work is left to do. Low-maintenance gardens probably don't have a lot. Maybe the odd weed has popped up around your garden beds, or in the middle of a lawn. These are easy to remove, but you'll need to use the right solution. A good product doesn't kill plants or roots in the surrounding area, which is perfect for spraying lawns. A knapsack sprayer is the easiest way to disperse the liquid around your garden, because you can wear it just like a school bag!

What kind of strange weeds have popped up around your garden? What kind of strange weeds have popped up around your garden?

Over time the weeds will die off, and you'll be left with a beautiful garden once more. To preempt that, and make sure everything stays healthy in the meantime, you should trim everything back. This includes the lawn - a domestic lawn mower is the perfect piece of equipment for that.

    Trimming the bush(es)

Now that's it's spring, you'll be wanting to spend a lot more time outside.

Over winter, it's hard to find the motivation to get outside and cut back the trees and bushes on your property. It's cold, usually wet, and there are far more enjoyable ways to spend a weekend. Now that's it's spring, though, you'll be wanting to spend a lot more time outside. To make the most of your garden space, keeping it looking pristine is vital.

Untamed growth can really make a garden look scruffy. A petrol hedge trimmer from Kennards Hire is an easy and safe tool to use, allowing you to create perfect, straight lines on hedges, and cut back plants that have become a bit unruly. Be careful what plants you cut back, though! A rose bush takes kindly to a gentler prune, and will flourish if that is done regularly. Some plants prefer to be left alone to grow, and it would be far better to encourage their growth in a certain direction (away from the deck table, or creeping along a wall) with some strategically placed wire.

It'll cut through a tree branch like a hot knife through butter.

For the bigger cutting jobs, such as taking down an overhanging branch that's in the way of that new pergola you want to install, a 450-millimetre petrol chainsaw is the best tool for the job. There are no cords in the way, so you won't have to worry about losing power. It'll cut through a tree branch like a hot knife through butter.

    The finishing touches

For a truly stand-out garden space, you can't have anything that looks old or worn out. This includes fencing, boxes and flora.

To easily remove tired plants, a large scrub puller is what you want. Getting down to the roots, this tool leaves a lot of room for new plantings, and you won't need to strain your back by bending over a lot.

For all of your spring landscaping needs (and there are probably a lot), head into your local Kennards Hire branch and see what the team has for you.
