    Consider size when hiring generators

When it comes to hiring a generator, size is an important consideration. After all, you will want to make sure that you can generate enough power to get the job done, but not so much that you end up wasting energy you don't need.

A good place to start is to think about what exactly you will be using the generator for - and how much power you will need.

An important thing to remember is that inductive loads tend to use much more power to start up than they do to remain running. Air conditioners, electric pumps and electric motors tend to fall into this category, so you will want to make sure you use a generator that is up to the task.

The easiest way to figure out what size of generator you will need is to work out the average energy consumption of all the appliances you will need to power, add this up and then allow for a bit of extra room to start up - online calculators can help you to assess this information if you aren't sure how much power you will require.

You will also want to make sure you make the most of your generator hire by using it as efficiently as possible. Powering up your largest electric motor first, then adding other appliances after, is a great way to ensure you are using your generator wisely.
