Nathan and James from Lone Pine Landscapes took the time to explain how Kennards Hire has got their backs, from the start of their business. Read below James' story or watch Nathan's video.

    James Drinan, Lone Pine Landscapes

I’m one of the Directors of Lone Pine Landscapes in Sydney’s northern beaches area. My brother Edward and I started the business together and we are now in our 9th year of operation.

At first it was just the two of us and one ute, doing jobs mostly for friends and their friends. The business has grown since we started and there are now over twenty staff on the team, including in project management, estimating, landscaping, administration and accounts.

We’ve also undergone a lot of changes in that time, including shifting from using written diaries to more complex digital systems to track jobs, finances and administration.

Lone Pine is very much a local business. We try to be as local as we can – operating and servicing customers mostly in the north shore or northern beaches area of Sydney.

What we do and what equipment we use

Our core services are landscape design and landscape construction for both residential and commercial clients.

This begins with design consultation and concepts, moving through to obtaining the necessary permits and then finally project management and construction. Each job is unique as it is personal to the customer – whether it involves creating a dream garden, entertaining area, unique courtyard or pool surrounds.

In the course of our work we use a lot of equipment, as you might imagine. This might include chainsaws, jackhammers, earthmoving equipment, safety gear, and traffic control items such as bollards. It all depends on the particular job to be done.

Why we hire equipment rather than buy

We will often hire the tools we need, especially some of the bigger items.

Our main reasons for this include the easy availability of the equipment and the cost savings. Hiring also means we do not need to find room to store large pieces of machinery and to maintain them – which would take us away from our core activities.

To sum up – it’s just very convenient and cost-effective to hire rather than buy, and it’s good for business.

Why we choose to use Kennards Hire

Why do we use Kennards Hire? Well, Kennards is very local to us and they also have lots of branches which makes it very handy for us to hire from them.

Other reasons include their reliability and good service. We can always rely on Kennards Hire to have the tools we need and to be able to get them in time. We also know the equipment will be in good condition.

Kennards Hire has a very wide range of tools and equipment for landscaping. You just know that they’ll have whatever it is that you need for the task.

How Kennards Hire helps us on site

There are many, many instances of Kennards Hire helping us on site! In general, they make our jobs more manageable. They make it easy and convenient to access the tools we need on site, as we need them.

Tools can sometimes get damaged through the work we do, and it’s important for us to know we can quickly get a replacement in good condition if we need it.

Kennards Hire’s support helps our business growth

The services provided by Kennards Hire have supported our business growth over the years. This includes through the cost savings in hiring equipment, the convenience and ease of the whole process, and the backup support.

We would certainly recommend Kennards Hire for Australian landscape businesses like ours.
