Once you have a general nursery theme to follow, it should become a little easier to pick out furniture for the room.

This is where you can put more of your creative talent to show, embarking on more DIY painting projects and putting your own spin on worn looking furniture.

    Cot

If you've already got a cot that is need of some TLC, you can transform it to suit the tone of your nursery, simply sanding it down and applying a lick of paint.

You can also add other embellishments to match the theme of the nursery, hanging animal soft toys across the front of the cot or tying ribbons on the rail.

    Rocking chair

You can give your aged rocking chair a new lease of life by changing up its look.

Put your sander to work again, so you can get to painting it with a new colour to match the nursery theme.

If you're already quite content with the colour, you can add just a few touches to make it good as new.

Change the upholstery to a material of your choice, adding new cushions and a throw to finish.

Kick start your DIY nursery projects by picking up some tools from your local Kennards hire centre.
