If your pond is looking particularly full of leaves at the moment, or like there's an excessive amount of debris from pond plant vegetation, it may be time to have a clean out.

Autumn is the best time of year to do this, before winter sets in.

Kennards have a number of pump hire options that will help you to get the job done.

A 240V waterbed pump is a lightweight option ideal for draining fish ponds or waterbeds.

A heavier duty option is one of Kennards' 75mm, 3" trash pumps, which are still portable but also powerful. It can transfer dirty water and some solids.

When removing water from a pond it is necessary to remember to replace the water, or to add it back into the pond with a filter. Always be careful when reintroducing water taken from the bottom of a pond as it can have depleted oxygen or high sediment levels that can cause problems for your fish.

There are a range of other options available too, such as silenced, skid mounted, diaphragm and submersible pumps for just about any job.
