One of the first things that a prospective buyer will notice about a property is its garden - whether they want to or not, the front yard is impossible to miss.

Therefore, it is vital that if you are planning to sell your home, you spend some time focusing your energies into this area.

Whether you are a bit of a green thumb or you consider yourself a novice in the area, some garden DIY can instantly boost the appeal of your home.

You don't have to empty out your pockets on new plants, even tidying up the front garden so that it looks neat can make a huge difference.

If you do feel like getting your hands dirty, why not head down to your local gardening centre and grab a selection of bright flowers to plant?

Sunflowers, roses, marigolds and daffodils are all perfect varieties, or alternatively, you can plant an ornamental tree to become a focus point of your front yard. Crepe myrtles, crab apples, prunus and cercis are all ideal varieties for this.

While tidying up the garden, you may also want to put a few solar lights around the place - adding to the ambience and potentially boosting your home's street appeal in the process!
