Linked portable conveyors from Kennards Hire overcame a site access challenge on a Brisbane CBD site.

The conveyors carried more than 60 cubic metres of rubble from a narrow gap between a rock face and building, through a window and into skips set up in a basement car park.

The Veer Group, which specialises in commercial interiors fit-out and refurbishment, undertook the work as a “one off” to help a client.

Director Alex Ugov said parts of the rock face behind the Adelaide Street offices had broken away over many years, filling the void between it and the building with rubble and creating a water seepage problem.

“Access was a nightmare, and the conveyors were the only type of machinery we could get in there,” he said.

“We set up them up to run along the back of the building, up a steep incline, through a window and storage area and into a basement car park, where rubbish skips were positioned.

“I was very impressed with the performance. We reconfigured it as we went along, and assembling and disassembling was easy. Being 240V, the operation was quiet, and there were no fumes.”
