Kennards Hire have long been partners of the Sydney FC Sky Blues, supporting both the A League and W League. As a family-owned business, it’s important that partnerships such as these extends to supporting grassroots community initiatives such as the recent Sydney FC Cup tournament.
Held in mid-July, the U12 tournament, which is now in its second year, has more than doubled in size with the addition of a U11 age group, plus the introduction of a U13 girls only competition. The passion for football in the community was evident over the two days of the competition with 44 teams participating from 16 clubs across Sydney, NSW, ACT and QLD.
The aim of the tournament is to celebrate the football community; give up and coming bright stars an opportunity to challenge themselves in a competitive environment; and provide a fun and exciting experience with Sydney FC. It is also a great opportunity for Sydney FC Academy staff to spot talented youngsters before selection of the Sydney FC Boys and Girls Academy squads for 2023.
Manelle Merhi, General Manager, Marketing & Customer Experience was very happy to present each Cup winner $2,000 cash with their trophy’s, alongside Adam Santo, Sydney FC CEO and Steve Corica, Head Coach A-League Men and Kelly Cross, Technical Director – Youth.

The winners of the trophy and prize money were decided in a thrilling finals series, with two of the three finals matches going to a penalty shootout. Congratulations to the winners, U11 SAP South Coast Flame, U12 SAP Gold Coast United and U13 GSAP Moreton Bay United FC. The ‘golden boot’ award went to – Jimmy Matthews from the Gold Coast Knights.
