A 150mm (6in) trailer-mounted pump from a new Kennards Hire Pump & Power hire centre in Far North Queensland assisted with a $32.47 million project to rebuild the cyclone-damaged Cardwell foreshore.
SEE Civil, a family-run company with 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, including the delivery of disaster recovery works, was awarded the tender for the reconstruction work on the coastline south of Tully, which was hit by Cyclone Yasi in 2011.
The pump, which can pump up to 132 litres per second and is extremely to move around, removes any seawater entering the work site at high tide.
This project, which is funded jointly by the Federal Government and the Queensland Government, is part of a $12 billion program overseen by the Queensland Reconstruction Authority.
The new Kennards Hire Pump & Power branch, in Townsville, has already provided equipment as far north as Cape York, west to Mt Isa and south to Bowen
Kennards Hire Pump & Power has hire centres in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.
