Linked generators provide 500kVA output

250kVA generators, supplied by Kennards Hire Pump & Power, were synchronised to provide 500kVA output as part of a temporary power strategy during the widening of Great Eastern Highway in Perth.

Electrcraft Electrics, which had been contracted by Western Power, hired 11 large generators from Kennards Hire Pump & Power in Perth for one critical weekend.

A BHP Biliton remote management operation and the Assured Ascot Quays Apartment Hotel were among big establishments which could have been impacted by the disruption to normal supplies, but it was “business as usual” when the hired generators took over.

Edward McCoppin, who operates Electrcraft Electrics, said five of the 11 generators were 250kVA units. “We synchronised two lots of two, which provided 500kVA for a couple of the businesses,” he said. “It worked out very well, and no one experienced a problem

Electrcraft Electrics, a specialist provider of temporary power, has been a regular hirer since Kennards started the large generators operation in Perth in 2009. “Dean and Barry (manager Dean Groves and assistant manager Barry O’Loughlin) provide us with a very good service,” Edward said.
