To make moving day as stress-free as possible, you need to be organised. You can't go into the big day without making any preparations for where your belongings are going to be stored, how you're getting the equipment to the new place, and even how much time it's going to take to clean up when you leave.

Sorting out everything before you move doesn't have to take a lot of time, and Kennards Hire has everything you need to make the process a breeze this spring.

    1) The moving vehicle

It's not likely that you have your very own dedicated moving vehicle. A ute, small van or four-wheel-drive is all well and good, but you'll only be able to cram so much gear in before you need to drop it off and come back for a second, third, fourth or even fifth trip. That all takes time, especially if you're moving far away.

If you don't own your own dedicated moving vehicle, hiring one is a great idea.If you don't own your own dedicated moving vehicle, hiring one is a great idea.

To cut down the time it takes to move your belongings out, use a removal van with tail lift. The storage space is a massive 14 cubic metres, and it has an automatic tail lift that can carry up to 500 kilograms at a time. You don't need to strain yourself lifting a fridge or washing machine into the van - the lift will do the work for you.

Instead of taking five trips, you might only need two. That could reduce a huge amount of travel time, affording you more hours to get unpacked on the other end.

    2) Extra space for the small things

Many people who move take a vehicle with them. There are plenty on the roads - over 18 million, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics data from January 31, 2016.

If you need to drive to the new digs as well, then you've got even more of an opportunity to cram more gear into your trip and cut down the amount of time it takes to get moved in. A large enclosed trailer is perfect for relocating, as you can put any valuables in it, knowing the elements won't harm them. You need a car that has a towbar to use a trailer, but if you're taking the car, you can put even more of your things inside, from food in the cupboards to your favourite pieces of art and knick knacks. Some belongings just can't leave your side.

You can put 1,200 kilograms of gear into the large trailer, which is about 1,800 books! If you want to transport your library collection, this is the perfect moving accessory.

    3) Cleaning up after yourself

There's going to be a lot of dust after you move out.

Whether you're leaving a home you owned or a rental property, you'll be wanting to clean up after the move. There's going to be dust. A lot of dust. There's also going to be scraps from boxes and masking tape and anything else you used to pack your gear up. There might be the odd food scrap hiding in the back of the cupboard, and maybe some dead bugs on window sills.

Whatever you've left behind, getting rid of it is easy with the industrial jumbo vacuum cleaner from Kennards Hire. It can store 200 litres of waste in its bin, has a hose that can reach up to 20 metres and can be used in wet or dry environments. Have a messy porch area but it's been raining all day? Don't sweat it. This vacuum can do it all.

Before your big moving day comes around this spring, head into your local Kennards Hire branch and sort out everything you need to make the whole thing go off without a hitch!
