The bushfires that have swept through the island of Tasmania have devastated a number of communities, with scores of people, including tradespeople of all kinds, willing to help where they can.
The Examiner reported that plumbers, builders and carpenters were pledging to aid in the repair and rebuild of Tasmanian towns, where more than 100 properties on the island were said to have been destroyed by the fires.
"Our members are ready, willing and available to provide assistance," Housing Industry Association state executive director Stuart Clues said via The Examiner.
Other community members are said to be interested in helping too, with the The Mercury reporting that Volunteering Tasmania had been "inundated with inquiries" from people wanting to offer their skills and services to those affected by the bushfires.
"In just two days we’ve had over 400 expressions of interest from people all wanting to volunteer their skills and expertise in any way possible and that number is constantly growing," said Volunteering Tasmania state manager Jill Maxwell.
"Whether you are on the front line fighting fires now or assisting with relief efforts in the months to come, every effort is important to rebuilding the communities affected."
